[Workshops: Round One] 9:30-10:45 a.m. Saturday

The CAFO Co-op experience
ABNR Building, Room 114
Dan Fister and Sally Hertz, Truman State

Last fall, eight Truman State University students united
under the roof of a single house in an effort to achieve a
more socially and environmentally sustainable way of
life. We will share the principles, practices and projects
that have been part of our movement toward a lower-
impact lifestyle.

The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF)
ABNR Building, Room 115
Dwight McKay and Angela Spencer

Based on similar funds at large California public schools,
we are adapting the concept for a small, liberal, private
school in the Midwest. We detail the efforts that we are
undertaking and the trials that we are experiencing. We
also examine the ways that the fund can be used, the
grant distribution, and the future of the fund.

Effective Advocacy with Administrators
ABNR Building, Room 123
Ben Datema, Sustain Mizzou

Getting administrators on your side can make or break
your organization, effort, or project. What do adminis-

you and support your efforts? This workshop will focus
on successfully building and maintaining relationships
and political capital with the people at the top.

[Workshops: Round Two] 2:00-3:15 p.m. Saturday

Hosting the National Teach-In
ABNR Building, Room 114,
Manny Abarca, University of Central Missouri

This session will focus on targeted large events that will
raise awareness about the issues amongst your campus
and community. Also, how to plan and execute, prop-
erly follow up with administrators and overall have
successful events that will ultimately change mindsets
and policy at your University.

Sustainability through SIFE
ABNR Building, Room 115

Students in Free Enterprise, University of Central Missouri
We will introduce SIFE at UCM and show what both the
organization and the school have done to help the
environment. SIFE has six main criteria that we must
fulfill through service with the community and UCM; a
newer criteria we cover is Environmental Sustainability.

Climate Action Now: Integrating Climate
Education and Action into Truman State University
Dan Fister & Joshua Mantooth
ABNR Building, Room 123
We are developing a carbon-sequestration course and
project with the help of the school and a grant from the
National Wildlife Federation. This project is the first step
in preparing Truman State University for a carbon-
neutral, environmentally sustainable future.

Running a student sustainability fee
campaign on  less than $100

ABNR Building, Room 115

MU student body recently voted to approve a $1 per
student per semester sustainability fee. In this work-
