Call for Presenters

For fall 2010 Show Me Sustainability Conference, Oct 15th-17th

At Maryville University in Saint Louis, Missouri

We are looking for student presenters who can cover these topics for the 2010 Show Me Sustainability Conference. We are interested in presentations that connect in some way with our conference theme of environmental sustainability or with the threads listed below. Presentations are not limited for graduate students. We want to hear everyone’s knowledge and efforts. There will be both standard workshop format and panel workshops available to do.

Missouri Water Health: Our overarching theme for this conference is water health. Almost everything we do in our efforts to be sustainable can be traced to concerns with our natural water supply. If you have any experience with this issue and would like to share what you have done and what more can be done, feel free to step up.

Successful Aspects of Projects: Success in Projects dealing with: Time Management, Mobilizing and Inspiring Volunteers, Dealing with Partisan Issues, Setting Agendas, Running Meetings, Effectively Using Email (Listserves and Newsletters), Interpersonal Communications, Positive Focus for Positive Impacts, Humor, Starting an Organization or Project, Setting and Prioritizing Organization Goals, Using Media and Public Relations, Internal Communications, Budgeting

Points of Improvement: The same topics mentioned under “Successful Aspects of Projects”, but with a discussion on the points in which the project failed to achieve its goal or could be improved.

Sustainability: Recycling, Alternative Transportation, Responsible Consumption, General Awareness, Energy, Large Scale Efforts, Small Scale Efforts, Policy, Conservation, Historical Relevance, Legal Precedence

Research: Developing new technologies and methods for sustainability is very important for the future of our Its a great way to both show off your institution and show other students what the future may bring.

Are we forgetting something? Is there some topic or ideas that we have overlooked? If you think so, tell us about it. This is a conference for students and by student. Everyone voices need to be heard. Send us your ideas!

You will be notified by September 10, 2010 whether your proposal has been selected. Please mail, email or deliver your proposal to Green Maryville 650 Maryville University Drive, St. Louis, MO 63141 or showmesustainability@gmail.com. Your name and affiliation will appear in the conference program as listed. The Primary Contact is responsible for contacting all additional presenters with session details. All presenters must register for the conference.
